Having Fun

Where to begin...about three weeks ago, I came home from work, 10:30pm, and Brody was going to fix me a hamburger because I was kind of hungry and had had a bad day at work. Well he decided to try and seperate the hamburger patties with a steak knife and I warned him to be careful which made him over confident and he wound up stabing himself in the hand so than I rushed him to the hospital where he got six stitches put in his hand, but he is okay now.

Wednesday the 29th, I left my loving husband at home and headed to my grandparent's house. I stopped in Salt Lake to visit my sister Marie and her baby Kenny in the the hosptal. Kenny had to have surgery on his skull because the layers around his brain weren't developing right so if she didn't have it fixed than it would cause him to become mentally retarded. So his surgery went well and he was able to come home on Saturday. He will have to have a checkup when he is one to see how he is doing if not than they will probably have to do a surgery again.

So after I left the hospital I went to my grandparents house to visit them, which was really nice because I haven't really seen them for a while. We played some card games and I went through my grandma's jewerly and Christmas decorations which meant that I left my grandma's house with a lot more stuff than I came with, lol. When I was leaving their house, I got about 15 feet and realized that my car was a little low on one side, so I got out and noticed that my tire was flat. So I took it to Walmart and got a new one than went on my way to my mom's house.

I picked Mevina and David up from school than we went to Felicia's house and visited her for a while than came home so Mevina and David could get ready for their concert. They both did pretty good, I posted some pictures from it below. Afterwards we played some more card game's (which I obviously enjoy). The next day (Friday) my mom had the day off so we were able to hang out for a while and than I dropped here off at my the church house that Pat was cleaning up and I went to my friend Nikki's house and hung out with her for a little bit than I went home and got all dressed up for halloween and went to a play "Litttle Shop of Horror's" that my friend Nikki was in and than we went out to eat and went over to my other friend Brandon's house where we hung out until 3:30 a.m. than went home. I had do get up at 6:45 so that I could pick my sister Felicia and her boyfriend Rory at 7:30 and than we drove to my dad's house. So than I took a nap and kind of caught up on my sleep while we were waiting for Wendy and Mark to get there. When they did, we went to the West Hills and kind of explored for a while, it was really pretty, I also posted some pictures of it below. My dad actually found two peices of Indian potery and than I found two more. It was really exciting for me because I've never found any Indian artifacts before. I accidently left them at my dad's house but all well I'll get them later. When we got home we met Marie, Devon and their baby Kenny there. Kenny was a little cranky at first but than they gave him the kid version of Lowertab and that cheered him right up, lol. They are doing well though which is good but they were rather exhausted so we ate cake and my dad opened his presents while we sang happy birthday to him and than Marie, Devon and Kenny went home. I drove home the next day (Sunday) around 2:00, it was a long boring drive but it was definitley worth it. I had a lot of fun and can't wait to go back again.

In the mean time, Brody went to his classes and rented a video game (Fallout 3) to play. He was pretty bored without me here.

So life is going good for us. We still don't know if we like how cold it is here but other than that it's not bad at all. My job can be a little overwhelming sometimes but I still enjoy it. Brody is doing well in his classes, although I don't think he necessarily enjoys them but he doesn't hate them either. Work is going alright for him too.

Pictures

Mevina at the concert doing Color Guard. The lighting in the auditorium wasn't that great so I took a couple and than said forget it. She did well though.

Those are some dang big instruments that he plays but he obviously really enjoys it.

This is my friend Nikki and I at Denny's after her play. I had a blast hanging out with my friends again.

And there's a picture of all of them. I dated the guy in the suit in high school and had a crush on the one flailing his arms, (a little bit of history for you, lol) But they are all still good friends. Here is a picture of a bush up in the West Hills, I thought it was rather pretty so I took a picture of it.

This is a picture of the great view from where we were at; Wendy took this one.

Updates

Lets see, new happenings. Brody and I went out and bought a washing machine yesterday, we found it off of KSL so it was only $100 and works pretty well. We were able to get a dryer from Brody's sister Hayley so now we don't have to go to a laundry mat or ask other people if we can use theirs, which is nice (thanks to those who let us use theirs though).
Brody taught me how to drive his truck the other day, not that I didn't already know how to drive a stick shift, but I guess trucks are different from cars. I'm still a little jerky when I drive it, but I'm sure I'll get better over time, I just have to get used to it.
I still really enjoy my position as team lead, I even ended up getting an even bigger raise than they told me I would which is great for us. My only frustration with work is that we have lost three people in my department so it is really hard to get stuff done and I hate feeling like I didn't get anything done at the end of the day. They told Tracy (my department manager) that they were going to hire some more people for our department but than I also heard that they weren't going to, so I guess we will see.
Brody started school last Monday, he's not really enjoying it and complains about all the stupid freshmen that he has to deal with (he is finishing the very last of his generals) and isn't to bored with complaning either, but he knows that it is just something he has to go through to get to where he wants to be. But if all goes as planned he will get his bachelors in about over a year and than he may join the Navy as an Officer where he will have to do training for a couple of months and than the Navy will put him into Grad school for his psychology masters/doctorate degree. His duties will mostly be to help the marines/sailors & and their families suffering from various problems. Also another advantage about the military is that he will always have work regardless of the economy (and by that, he means if Obama wins). Joining the military is something he's always wanted to do, he prefered the Air Force but they won't pay for grad school, so he is stuck with the Navy, but we'll have to see if he wants to transfer to the Airforce after his contracts are done with the Navy, or we will give the civilian counterpart a try.

Anniversary

So for our anniversary we actually slept in till noon. At 4:30 we went on a hike and than we went out to dinner at a chinnese restaurant here in logan. After that we came home and watched the "Blue Collar Comedy Tour", which was pretty funny. We didn't spend very much money but we both really enjoyed it. It was mostly just being able to spend time with each other that we enjoyed the most. We have only had four days off together since we got married; the first one we went hiking together, the second one we moved all day, the third time we spent all day cleaning our old apartment and the fourth one was our anniversary. So it is rare that we get a day off together when we can actually do what we want together.
A team lead position opened up for the building materials department at my work and my department manager and zone manager asked me if I was going to apply for it, which I took as a hint, so I applied (I was thinking about it anyway) last Tuesday. I had heard about a few other people that applied for the position and I had reasoned out that I would probably get it (no offense to them) but two of them are rather lazy and have sour additudes and the other to had just barely moved to other departments so I didn't think that the managers would want to move them again. All in all though I was still pretty nervous about it, well I found out Monday that I got the position and found out that I also got quite a hefty raise from it too which works out really well for us. I am really excited about the position and I think that I will do pretty well as team lead. Really the only thing that changes is that I will be responsible for getting more paperwork done and I officially get to boss people around, hahaha. :) I started taking up some of my duties today (my department manager, Tracy, wasn't there today so he hasn't been able to train me on all the stuff that I am supposed to be doing) and it was nice to be moving up in the company after being there for so long. So far I really like the position and I think I will continue to enjoy it.
Anyway I think that's pretty much everything so I hope you guys are all doing well, we are.

Anniversary

So on the 9th of August Brody and I will have officially been married for one year and we are both really excited and still madly in love with each other. The only problem is neither of us have got the slitest idea about what to do for our anniversay, we would like to do something kind of novel that we don't do very often or give each other something really great, I guess that we would just like to do something that we will remember for a long time, but we have no money. If you have any good ideas, just post a comment on this blog and let me know, it would be great! I will post another blog after the 9th to let you guys know how it went. Thanks

New apartment

So we finally found ourselves a new apartment, one that's not infested with mold and doesn't hve a stupid landlord attached to it, if we have a problem than we have to go to our RA so hopefully that will work better, but the no mold growing through the paint because our landlord just painted over it, is in and of itself is great. It is 2oo sq feet larger than our old one and it has two bedrooms so we are turning one into a office so that Brody will not have to go to the school library to study. We just barely finished cleaning our old apartment, we moved out Friday and Brody spent all day Saturday cleaning it, but I had to work. I actually called in sick today so that we would finally finish cleaning it, which we did at about 7:00pm which is really nice. I'm glad that neither of us will ever have to go back to that place again other than to do the look over with our old landlord, but I don't know for sure if she will make us do that with her because I know that she didn't with some of the other tenants that used to live there, but I don't know, we'll see.
We aren't completly moved in yet, we pretty much just have boxes everywhere, we have the tv, couch and desk set up but that's about it. We just threw the mattress on the floor and use them like that, we haven't had the chance to put anything away yet so everything is everywhere and when we want to find something than it takes us a few minutes to find it but I have Wednesday and Thursday off this week so I'm going to be spending those days organizing, and relaxing a little bit. Our couch clashes really badly with the carpet so I think I'm going to have to get some material to put over the couch to make it so it's not so bad but it'll be a little while before we can do that, I have to wait till we have money again.
Let's see, what else is happening, I think I twisted my back the other day while I was at work because I was trying to load some drywall into somebody's truck for them and the drywall felt like it wanted to twist and my body was telling me that it couldn't twist like that. After that I went and got somebody else to help the guy load it, but it has been bugging me ever since. Sometimes it hurts and sometimes it just feels twisted, but it hasn't brought me to tears yet so it's not that bad. I think that I will go and see a chiropractor soon though because I can't do very much without it hurting, I probably just popped it out of place. I should probably wear a back brace at work but their gaudy and ugly so I've been putting it off, customers keep lecturing me about it though, lol. I think I will go and look at some at walmart tomorrow and see if I can find some that aren't so bad and than just get the tax credit for it.
I'm really enjoying my new position at work, it's pretty fun and I like driving the machinery around but I don't do it very often because the other guys that I work with usually jump on first. I think that part of the reason is because I'm really slow at driving them and because they like driving them. But I'm getting faster and better the more I drive them so I should just make them let me drive the machinery anyway. I also got a raise at work so that was nice it was about 63 cents worth which is good, it is about what I was expecting but not as much as Brody was but that's alright it makes a differnce and it helps. I also get commision in my new position at work and I will get 29 dollars worth of that on my next pay check so that will be nice too.
Brody is having problems with his truck so he has to check it out tomorrow and see if he can figure out what is wrong with it. It's probably leaking through the head gasket which would be a big problem if it is but it might just be that the timing is off on it which is what I hope is wrong with it because that isn't to hard to fix. He said that it has just been losing compression really bad, so it might take him a while to get it fixed depending upon what's wrong with it. I really hope it's nothing major though. Anyway, that's about it, I will blog again when something else happens.

new position at work

I recently had an interview for the building materials department at my work and today I just found out that I got the position, I make the transfer in a little less than two weeks. I'm really excited about it because one of the things that I hated about my job the most was the fact that I never had to use my brain. Doing cashier work, it's the same thing day after day and even when you get something a little out of the ordinary than you can still do that without thinking because it happens a lot too, that or it's a simple thing. But I think that the change will help out a lot in how much I enjoy my job. And another good thing about it is that I won't have to deal with Janet anymore, she's one of the 'head cashier's', and she really love's to shove that fact in your face a lot. Unless she likes you, than you are set for life. I also think it will be kind of fun to drive the forklift and other machinery like that around. I get along pretty well with everyone that is in that department, so far, so that's good too, and I should also get two Sundays off a month instead of just one which I'm also excited about. Anyway, I hope that it works out well.

Hike

Well Brody and I both had yesterday off so we went on a hike with some friends, it was pretty fun. The trail was king of boring, the listing on the internet said that it followed a shoreline, which is what it was called, but it actually ran along a fence and some water tanks most of the way so it wasn't that grand of a trail but it was still pretty nice to spend some time together doing something other than watching tv and it was good to get out of the house too.

Our life

Hey Brody and Mary here. Just to tell everyone a little about us, we met in August 2006 at a combined ward activity. It was a two night camping trip up at Bear Lake, he saw me sitting by myself and made it a point to come and talk to me and well we hit it off from there. We ended up getting married a year later in August 2007. We now live in Logan, Brody is going to school to become a psychologist and working at Well's Fargo, I am working at Lowes as a cashier. We have been enjoying the married life, it is great.
